The name Hoakalei comes from the legendary native tale of Hiiaka - favorite sister of the fire goddess Pele - and her epic journey across the Hawaiian Islands along the Plains of Ewa, where she visited a tranquil spring of cool water called Hoakalei (reflection of a lei). It was in this spring that she saw her own reflection adorned with garlands of Lehua blossoms.

This elegant, poetic word from Hawaiian lore is a fitting name for Hoakalei Country Club.
