Rouken Glen Golf Club

Although widely assumed to be a municipal course, Rouken Glen Golf Course is actually privately owned, having just recently been acquired by a business consortium composed of London & Regional Holdings and Bank of Scotland. Before this acquisition, Rouken Glen Golf Ceter was under the management and ownership of David Lloyd Leisure which in turn was owned by Whitbread.
The history of the course dates back to 1913 when Glasgow Corporation bought land adjacent to Rouken Glen Park, specifically for the purpose of building a golf course.
However, records show that the course (originally named Deaconsbank Golf Course) never actually opened until 1926. We can only assume that the First World War -- bringing with it innevitable shortages in resources and manpower -- impeded the development somewhat in terms of explaining the delay, but this has yet to be verified.
It is known that the course was designed by the legendary James Braid and in many ways it is a very good and typical example of one of his parkland creations, including as it does a notable example of the"dogleg" which Braid has been given the credit for inventing.

This is a great course for being a public course, Fairways and greens are in good condition. Short but still challenging
