Hidden gem! Unsung course, just an hour from New Orleans, this course is just an awesome golf course. Solid test for better golfers, but not altogether too much more the weekend hacker. Hackers beware though - there is A LOT of water and the fairways are mostly bordered by thick deep rough and then fescue/native areas. If you go way off line, go ahead and reload because it's likely lost. Advice - buy the yardage book! I didn't and even with a GPS, it likely cost me a few strokes no knowing where things were or what the ground ahead looked like. Greens are immaculate. Fairways are smooth. Lots of great shot values out there. Signature holes: par 4 5th hole with a split fairway - right side challenges the water and leaves a marginally shorter shot in, but that shot may be blind if the flag is deep. Playing left is a bit longer, but leaves a better angle to the green; and the par 5 18th, with water all down the left side. Good to have the yardage book here because you might think you are playing to the correct spot, only to find there is no fairway where you are playing. They have yet to build houses all around the course, so it's still pristine. It's very open so wind will be an issue. Hit it in the water, be careful... saw gators on just about every water hole there - and there is a lot of water. Love the layout. Hate that they haven't built a real clubhouse yet - the double wide just isn't becoming for a course of that caliber. Hate that they aren't open on Monday, which is my best and easiest day to play.
