This club was formed in April of 1911 in Manchester. The original 9-hole course was expanded to 18 holes in 1912. In 1930, the club acquired additional land, over which the club had professional Ernest Smith designed the present 13th, 14th, and 15th holes. The course now occupies 99 acres of parkland outside Manchester.

Visitors, organized parties, and societies are welcome, although advance booking is recommended. The walking rates for unaccompanied visitors are £44/round or £48/day on Sundays through Fridays. Winter and guest-of-member rates are available, as are memberships.
