When architect and two-time Open champion Willie Park Jr. designed this course in 1901, it was mostly a heathland-style layout. One century later, it has become a mature, parkland-style course.

Very good course. Tight fairways. Straight drives essential. Fast & true large greens. Greenkeepers clearly on top of their game. Only very minor negative was it felt a bit too traditionalist a club environment for my tastes(e.g. long socks with shorts, members only lounge etc.)
