This course is noted for having host qualifiers for both the PGA Tour's Doral and Honda tournaments, as well as U.S. Amateur and Mid-Amateur qualifying. Robert von Hagge and Bruce Devlin did the original design when the course opened in 1969 as Emerald Hills Country Club. Architect Charles Ankrom oversaw a redesign in 1989, when the club was renamed by new ownership. Water is in play on twelve holes, while the greens were re-seeded with TifEagle Bermuda in 2000.
