While the club dates to 1896, this parkland-style course opened in 1926. In 1938, the club brought in prolific architect James Braid, who designed four new holes, some of which were not rebuilt until 1945. In 1995, architect Patrick Merrigan was brought in to oversee better drainage and irrigation, three new lakes, seven rebuilt greens, and 30 additional bunkers, while restoring some of Braid's original design work.

Visitors are welcome; rates vary by season and are posted on the club's web site. Societies are also welcome with prior arrangement.
