Officially opened in the July of 1988, the Nicklaus course at St Mellion was his first in Europe and features many of his design characteristics - high tee boxes requiring well-placed tee shots, and plenty of water.
The Kernow Course previously hosted a European Tour event and opened in 1976. Since 2008, some renovations have taken place on this course.
This is one of those rare Nicklaus-designed courses that is open for public play; standard greens fees range from £75 (Mon-Wed) to £85 (Thur-Fri) to £95 on weekends. Kernow Course rates are £40, £45, and £50 on the same schedule. Memberships are also available.

The Nicklaus signature is one of the best and toughest courses I've played but at the same time a great challenge, the Kernow is very playable but both courses are a tough walk I would always recommend a buggy, the hotel food is great and plenty full, the bar and bar food is great, you can use the leisure facilities which also add to the experience.

Great course with challenging holes, ran out of steam towards the end, should have taken a buggy!!

Top course, precision is everything and it easy to get a hole very wrong and I did. Love the challenge!

A truly fantastic course - 2 for 1 vouchers a must though as it is not cheap.

My new favourite course. If you can get on before 8am you can save £30 on green fees. Everything else is costly(stroke saver £7, electric trolley hire £15 per round, burger and chips £11), though do not let that deter you from playing. Recieved a 50% off voucher for next round if booked in next 14 days. Course is immaculately kept with true greens. Not hilly while playing, only when walking from green to tee, so no need for a buggy especially as buggies must stick to paths and are not allowed on course at all.

Played with a member so the cost was much less than it would have been. The course could not be faulted, the greens were not overly quick but very true. Tee boxes were almost as smooth and flat as the greens and the two bunkers I found had very fine sand to a good depth. A very difficult course with extremely tight fairways and punishing rough with lots of hazards running along the fairways. The only disappointment was the pro shop where I had to wait ages to pay my green fee and then it was done almost reluctantly. Ended up playing the last 9 holes in the rain so will have to go back and play in better conditions. You will need to take your best game here to score and finding the fairways is crucial.
