This attractive parkland-style course opened in 1909, although the current layout dates to 1938. Cooke Municipal is often ranked among the best public-access courses in the Canadian prairie provinces. Among the important events Cooke has hosted over the years are the 2004 Royale Cup National Ladies Amateur Championship (Mary Ann Lapointe) and the 2009 Canadian Men's Mid-Amateur Championship (Dave Bunker).

This is an "out-and-back" layout; the 9th green and 10th tee are on the far end of the course. Water is in play on only a few holes, including 3 and 5, which are separated by two ponds and a waterfall. The signature hole is the 12th, a 159-yard par-3, well-guarded by water, bunkers, and trees. Greens tend to be large and demanding, including at the finishing hole, where a large mound dominates the right side of the green. A 15-bay practice range and putting green are augmented by a clubhouse with changing rooms.
