Keney Park GC opened in 1927 with a design by Devereaux Emmet and Alfred M. Tull, but it is closed for the 2014 season because the course is being redesigned and restored by Milwaukee-based architect Matthew Dusenberry.

Part of the reason for the redesign and rebuild was the failure of lessee MDM Golf Enterprises to make necessary repairs and capital improvements. The company also cut down hundreds of trees without authorization.

Dusenberry said the redesign will preserve the elevation changes and contours, but in addition to various improvements, the course will be lengthened to roughly 6,300 yards from the tips. The City of Hartford hopes to reopen the course in 2015.
