This is a wonderful old fashioned and quirky track. It's best played in the spring, or even winter, when the greens are in wonderful condition for the time of year. The course eases you in wiht a gentle innocuous par 5, but after that it is pretty unrelenting. The stretch from 4 to 7 is pretty special, as are the closing holes, really from 12 onwards. Hole 7 is one of my favourites of all the courses I have played. Overall it is a excellent course, with only a few weak holes stopping it from being a truly great course.

I thought that Rye was a decent track but not brilliant. The first few holes are pretty ordinary but it really picks up from the 4th onwards. The course was in desperate need of rain as the fairways weren't great. Greens were very good and true and we were very well looked after by the staff.I did feel £90 was quite a lot for a green fee here though.
