Troia Golf Championship Course, designed by the famous American golf architect Robert Trent Jones Senior, is a spectacular links, and one of the most fascinating golf challenges in Portugal. The magazine Golf World elected in 2003, as the 25th best European Golf Course.

The usual approach to the Troia Golf Championship Course is straight over the Estuary of the Sado River - a pleasant short ferry ride from Setubal to the Peninsula of Troia, a region of great natural beauty near the Atlantic Ocean.

The greens are small with naturally shaped defensive bunkers and hummocks, while the fairways are narrow and hemmed in by sandy dunes and pine trees, providing a genuine test of skill for the lowers handicap golfers together with enjoyment for the more modest players.

The front nine has a run of beautiful sea holes and Trent Jones who was never lost for words when asked to praise his own work, select the 3rd hole at Troia, for his dream eclectic course.

Troia Golf Championship Course offers you a comfortable and welcoming Clubhouse, constructed in a rustic style, with a set of first class facilities services: golf reception, pro-shop, bar, restaurant and a large balcony to the 18th Green and also a excellent Driving Range with two putting-greens and one chipping and bunker practice area.

Played at beginning of May 2010 and found the course in good condition and deserted, there were only 8 cars in car park when we had finished our second round about 5pm. The fairways are fairly tight but a driver is not always necessary, placement is more important. The rough is of the sandy waste variety but the ball was usually found in quick time. The greens were mid speed but ran true. Overall the best course around Lisbon for looks and well worth the ferry journey from Setubal.A must if going to the silver coast.
