Due to financial pressure, the course is facing closure on March 1, 2015. Originally, this was a private club, but was made semi-private in 2010. The owners are exploring a partnership or outright transfer of the property to the City of Cañon City.
Cañon City is in picturesque territory; as you follow the Arkansas River west from Pueblo, the terrain becomes mountainous, hence the name of the town (pron. "canyon"). Further west of town is the famous Royal Gorge Bridge, 1,053 feet above the Arkansas River, which is impressive from above and downright startling from the river below.

Course was in relatively good shape for the time of year. Pace of play was excellent and the course employees were very helpful and courteous. I will definitely return there in the future. NOTE: Course is narrow in spots!!
