This Jeffrey Brauer design made Golf Magazine's "Top 10 New Courses You Can Play" in 2007, describing it as "the public equivalent of nearby Prairie Dunes," a very famous (and private) club that has hosted seven USGA championships. Golf Magazine spoke of "superb variety in routing and greens sites, the bold bunkering, the quartet of holes that border Sand Creek, and a price tag that will allow you to play all week."

The echoes of classic links design here include a Road Hole, a Redan, and a nod to the fourth at National Golf Links on Long Island.

The USGA also thinks highly of Sand Creek Station; it will host the 2014 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship. Given that SCS has already hosted a number of junior collegiate and state amateur tournaments, the 2014 Publinx is likely to not be the last time the USGA goes to Sand Creek Station.

SCS is very much open to the public; the non-resident rates (with cart!) are $41 weekdays and $51 weekends. Residents of Harvey County, seniors, and students enjoy various discounts.
