IMHO, this course is one of the best i've played in california. if you don't hit it straight... bring ALOT of balls!!!

Target golf here! Bring your A game or stay home. Takes strategy and discipline to play this course. You can enjoy it a lot more if you go to their website and download the hole by hole notes/guide. Then at least you know where to aim or club up or down. it is invaluable if you haven't played the course before. It wasn't in best shape tees and fairways but the greens were excellent.

The layout is consistently interesting and challenging. The starts of each 9 are particularly dramatic. Forced carries and uneven lies abound. Nice amenities, service. Conditions, while not lush, were maintained and playable.

I'll never play this course again. Poor lay out, ridiculous blind shots, absolutely no flow to the course. Obiously built to sell surrounding houses.

If you are not part mountain goat, and a very straight hitter... Save your money. I was unable to play several holes because of my old back. Plus course was muddy and greens were not very good.

There are no easy shots on this course. If you're looking for a wide open, grip it & rip it course, keep looking...Retreat is NOT for you. This is target golf at its best. Concentration and focus is a must or you'll post a very high score.

Tis is one tough course, small fairways and even smaller greens, hard to hold, better be on your games for this one.

I just played the course and I have to say that the course is in brutal shape. The fairways have more area marked as ground under repair than playable ground. I know it's the winter, but c'mon... the fairways should be in better shape than it is.

The greens are also in pretty poor shape. The ball will not roll on a straight line... Bouncy all over the place. Very frustrating to putt on.

The absolute toughest golf course in Southern California... If a challenge is what your needing then play the Retreat..It will not let you down.

This was a nice looking course with scenery to match but I would never play it again. Greens are way to small or angled wierd. There is more than one PGA course out here and i've played them all and they were nowhere as far out as The Retreat. Golf is to be fun and challaging. That was way to extreme for me.
