Advertised as Mississippi's oldest golf course, Great Southern opened in 1908 with nine holes designed by Donald Ross. The second nine debuted in 1922. Architect Brian Curley undertook a restoration of the course in 1990 that included preserving as much of the original Ross design as possible. Following considerable damage done by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the course has reopened with two redesigned greens.

The standard rates (with cart) are $30 on Mondays through Thursdays, then $35 on Fridays, weekends, and holidays.

Great old course. Not too difficult except for the scenery. Flat as a board, but still some good challenges. Fun. Club house and tee time management needs some attention. Greens were not the best but they played true to your reads.

the greens are back. played twice this year. #18 is alittle burnt, but very playable. will play again. did notice the bushes need trimming and some ground bark. appearance would up this to a 4 star course.

Fairways were good but greens were bumpy and bare spots. Playing a layout from 1908 was cool. Greens had some interesting slopes and I could see where they could be put in challenging places if the greens were in better shape.

Very rough, but for 20 bucks it was Golf cheap. Greens very rough and slow.

It's touted to be the oldest course in Mississippi and it shows the wear. Now it did go through Katrina but just has not comeback all that well. There are some holes where the big Oak Trees branches are in the way and I know originally it wasn't planned that way just over time have become so. Some holes routing wasn't clear and several greens had bare spots due to fungus on the greens. The greens are all pretty much pushed up and all are square or rectangled. It wasn't a bad play just wasn't a good one.
