Rawls Course at Texas Tech University

Architect Tom Doak is well-known as a "traditionalist" who is normally averse to bulldozing lots of land in building golf courses. But here, in a completely flat cotton field on the northern edge of the Texas Tech University campus, Doak and his design firm moved more than one million cubic yards of soil to sculpt a rolling landscape. The course web site quotes Doak as saying, "the Red Raider course is probably the most complicated we've done to date."

The course is named for donor Jerry Rawls, a 1967 alumnus of Texas Tech. After he completed his B.S. in mechanical engineering, he earned an MBA at Purdue University, where Rawls began playing golf on the two courses there. As a gift to Texas Tech, Rawls helped spearhead the development of this on-campus course, which now hosts the Texas Tech University men's and women's golf teams, as well as the university's turfgrass science program.

Walking rates are $54 Monday through Thursday and $64 Friday through Sunday. A number of specials and discounts for faculty, staff, and students are available from the course web site.

This university has a good reputation, and its extracurricular courses are very popular. Though some assignments here can be challenging, with the help of resources like https://studentshare.org/essays/new-topic-funny-school-captain-speeches this process can be made easier, allowing students to balance their studies and leisure time.

Not much more you can ask for from staff. Professional, good attitude and had all the answers I had questions on. Facilities clean and well kept. Didn't eat so nothing to say there other than the restaurant area looked as clean as everything else. The course was fair but difficult. There were lots of areas that if you hit into, chances of finding a ball is little to none, but at least you know it right away so pace of play seemed better than I though it would be for this challenging of a course.

An interesting place I have to say. Probably this should be in a list of places worth visiting https://www.eturbonews.com/252786/places-worth-visiting-to-get-inspired-to-study/ or similar list. I would try to go there next month. Maybe someone could give me a few useful tips on this? Any suggestions?

Great course, but stay out of the bunkers. Some drainage issues with the bunkers, making them inconsistent to play. Great staff, and friendly. Make sure you play the proper tees for your skill level or it may become a difficult to enjoy. Love playing here.
