The Castle Course presents something different to the courses in the Town and that is its terrain. It can be a challenging course both from a playing perspective and physically. First time players will struggle with the positioning of tee shots as some drives are blind. Hitting the correct half of the fairway can yield a significant advantage in distance as well as missing the bunkers. However the real test are the greens. It is an achievement to get you ball to come to rest any where near the pin as the slopes are severe. Once on the green your will be challenged further as reading the break and pace is likely to be unmatched anywhere. True the Old Course does have some severe slopes but the Castles greens are at another level.
The location is great as you can see the sea from every hole and the view back to the town is spectacular on a good day.
Facilities are excellent with free balls available on the driving range. Staff are very welcoming and do their best to make sure you have a good day.
Well worth a visit and you will be assured to have plenty of chat about the greens!

Have played 4 of the 7 courses over 2 visits to St Andrews.
New, Strathtyum, Castle and Old Course.
The History is palpable. Walking the Old Course fairways is sureal.
Only thing is they rushed the pace of play on the Old Course.
3h 45 min walking ! Old Scottish caddie was very gruff and did not want any input from me.
He pissed me off and I ended up shooting 89. So thx I guess.
New Course and Strathtyrum were easier courses.
Castle was very difficult with alot of blind shots.
If your a golfer it's a must trip. Use the online ballot in the Fall and good luck.

Great course. Humbling when you think that you are playing the same course as the greatest golfers have played. Staff were all outstanding. Made for a memorable day of golf.

Volunteer at Womens Britich Open 2013. Played it before and I love when it is wind. This year they suspendid the play and they have to continue the other day. We are overseasmember at Leven Links Society and we took care of hole 4.

When you put your little wooden peg in the ground on the first tee in front of the R&A clubhouse, you are repeating a ritual that has been performed over the decades by virtually every golfer of note. Old Tom Morris, Bobby Jones, Sam Snead, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods have all played and walked the same turf. You get a feeling that is impossible to describe.

Jubilee course on this occasion. As good a test of golf as either the Old Course or the New Course. Incredibly difficult greens and a final stretch to test any doubts you have about your game. Ranks right up there with some of the best I have played.

Played the Jubilee course, just wonderful. Weather was fantastic and the fast greens made us all look fools at times. We were then lucky enough to have a drinks reception and dinner at the R&A, what an experience - to soak up the history and appreciate what the game is all about.

Terreno sagrado.

Played in benign conditions but still a great course in exceptional condition as you would expect. Played to my national handicap which was pleasing even with a couple of silly dropped shots. Greens and general upkeep extraordinary for a course played to the max every day.

Played the Old Course April 25 in a 40mph wind out of the Northeast. Got the \\\"full experience\\\" Need to go back.
