Have played 4 of the 7 courses over 2 visits to St Andrews.
New, Strathtyum, Castle and Old Course.
The History is palpable. Walking the Old Course fairways is sureal.
Only thing is they rushed the pace of play on the Old Course.
3h 45 min walking ! Old Scottish caddie was very gruff and did not want any input from me.
He pissed me off and I ended up shooting 89. So thx I guess.
New Course and Strathtyrum were easier courses.
Castle was very difficult with alot of blind shots.
If your a golfer it's a must trip. Use the online ballot in the Fall and good luck.

Great course. Humbling when you think that you are playing the same course as the greatest golfers have played. Staff were all outstanding. Made for a memorable day of golf.

Volunteer at Womens Britich Open 2013. Played it before and I love when it is wind. This year they suspendid the play and they have to continue the other day. We are overseasmember at Leven Links Society and we took care of hole 4.

When you put your little wooden peg in the ground on the first tee in front of the R&A clubhouse, you are repeating a ritual that has been performed over the decades by virtually every golfer of note. Old Tom Morris, Bobby Jones, Sam Snead, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods have all played and walked the same turf. You get a feeling that is impossible to describe.
  paddyhibernian - 10/31/12
Jubilee course on this occasion. As good a test of golf as either the Old Course or the New Course. Incredibly difficult greens and a final stretch to test any doubts you have about your game. Ranks right up there with some of the best I have played.
  teddytaylor - 10/15/12
Played the Jubilee course, just wonderful. Weather was fantastic and the fast greens made us all look fools at times. We were then lucky enough to have a drinks reception and dinner at the R&A, what an experience - to soak up the history and appreciate what the game is all about.
  Wantesgolf - 6/25/12
Terreno sagrado.
  Daytonat595 - 6/1/12
Played in benign conditions but still a great course in exceptional condition as you would expect. Played to my national handicap which was pleasing even with a couple of silly dropped shots. Greens and general upkeep extraordinary for a course played to the max every day.
  garycaplin - 5/20/12
Played the Old Course April 25 in a 40mph wind out of the Northeast. Got the \\\"full experience\\\" Need to go back.
  scotmac1 - 5/18/12
The Old Course is a must play!Fabulous experince on a sunny but breezy day in April. Pace of play kept moving by marshalls and given good advice along the way. Also played the Eden. Greens were tricky but very enjoyable overall and good hospitality in clubhouse. Both courses in great condition and greens were true.
  RoMo25 - 4/26/12
The Old Course is something every golfer should experience. I played it in a driving rain storm and loved every minute of it!
  leo.armer - 4/19/12
Incredible. Simply incredible place
  ray781 - 4/10/12
Played the Castle course, amazing course great condition, welcome was 5*.
Greens are fast and complex
its a must play course
  LarryMcJ - 1/2/12
Played the Old Course many years ago when I could still really play (4 handicap then) and shot a smooth 94! It's very difficult course, especially if you get into some of the fairway bunkers and count all your shots getting out.
  arenison - 11/21/11
Not a true links but worth playing for variety. Very slopey greens, too difficult for handicap players. Scenery hard to beat.
  Little_Italy_Golfer - 8/11/11
I played the Old Course twice and the New Course once in late July 2011. The New Course would be very special if it was not next door to the Old. And the locals will tell you the New is the best course in town.

That said, the Old is just special because it is a living museum. Everyone has to play there once. And if you like links golf and appreciate the nuances, it is a ton of fun as you have to be creative.

Pace of play on the New was 3 hours and 4 on the Old. Though it can really back up on the Old. What is most astounding on the Old is the number of people - players, caddies, walkers, etc. - on the course. With adjoining fairways and double greens, the Old course seems to have balls flying in every direction.
  danny_carrasco820 - 7/18/11
Played the old course in worst weather ever, but still an unbeilevable experience and would urge anyone to play if you ever have the chance.
  roquet - 6/13/11
Impresionant de Jubilee, impresionat New Course.
  BruceLowe - 6/3/11
Played the Old Course and Starthtyrum. The 'Strath' is a good wee course and warms you up for the big event. The Old Course is fantastic, difficult finding your way around holes 2,3 and 4 but afetr that no problem. Great (greatest!) course loved it and made to feel very welcome. Holes 1 and 18 are fantastic with the crowds around. A bit pricy both worth a treat. Top tip - stay left when driving on the first few holes!
  Lionel SBN - 5/30/11
Played the Jubilee course at end of march. Wind was up but a beautiful day. It was a pleasure to play although i did loose a few balls. I feel that there is a certain Aura about St Andrews and cannot wait to go and play it again.
  scot5000 - 5/25/11
Forget the Old Course unless you are looking for the "historical" experience and head just up the road to the Castle course.. great challenging course... not crowded..very friendly and accomodating staff at an excellent clubhouse.
  pjone5 - 5/23/11
You must play the Old Course it is a fantastic experience especially with a caddie. As usual it was a little windy but this added to the challenge and the enjoyment
  Roy89 - 5/7/11
The old course is a must play at some time and it lived up to expectation. Highlight was a 4 at the road hole with applause from the gallery.
  jhague - 5/7/11
New course - good links, good test for all but suitable for less able players
Jubilee - toughest of the three, need to be a good standard to really enjoy this course
Old - expensive purely as course but cheap in terms of history and sense of occasion. the most enjoyable of the 3 even at £140 per round
  silver surfer - 4/29/11
the 1st 17th and 18th holes are what you are paying your money for.and the new course is better value. still would not have missed it for anything even though it rained
