While Hillendale as a club dates to 1923, this course debuted in 1954 with a design by William F. Gordon and David L. Gordon. During the 1970s, George Fazio was brought in to add and redesign some fairway bunkers. The club has hosted a number of important tournaments over the years, including:

• Greater Baltimore Open (1983, 1984)
• Maryland State Open (five times, including 2009)
• Maryland State Amateur (1976, 1984, 1995, 2011)
• PGA Middle Atlantic Section Club Pro Championship (2001, 2005)

Practice facilities include a 300-yard range, a fairway practice bunker, a short-game practice area, and two large putting greens.
