This course hosted the off-season PGA Grand Slam of Golf from 1994 until 2006. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., Poipu Bay plays over 210 oceanfront acres, with 85 bunkers, five water hazards, and wildly varyiable trade winds. Among the wildlife here are Hawaii's endangered native nene geese, while humpback whales can be seen offshore. The course was designed around several ancient Hawaiian heiau (places of worship) and handmade stone walls, estimated to date back over 500 years. (Golfers are forbidden to enter these culturally-sensitive areas or play balls from them.)
The standard rate is $240, while guests of the Grand Hyatt Kauai pay $170.

I scored a Hole in One on Hole # 11, my first, Son-in-law was watering the brush he didn't see it, thought I was kidding. I told him well when we get to the hole you will see my ball in the cup. When I pulled the ball out the group of four players on the # 10 green (My Gallery) all started applauding my accomplishment.
Great Golf Course, probably won't get back to that Tee box ever again, Great memory, Great place.

I just love this course. I play it at least once a year and the staff treat you like gold. This course is well worth the price for the course (beautifully maintained), great service and phenominal views.
