This Alister Mackenzie design opened in 1929, during the same time that Mackenzie designed Cypress Point and Augusta National. In recent years, retro-traditionalist architect Tom Doak oversaw a partial restoration of the course and the original design. While not the famous course in California, the Valley Club is very important architecturally, in part because of the visual deception in this extremely attractive course. Valley Club is usually ranked among the top 100 courses in all of the United States.
