Tierra Del Sol opened in 1978 with a design by architect Robert von Hagge and his design partner Bruce Devlin. The course features a blend of high desert and parkland styles, with water in play on seven holes. TDS is also a registered bird sanctuary through the state of California, so a variety of interesting birds frequent the property.

The standard walking rates are $16 on weekdays and $21 on weekends and holidays (carts are $12/person). Junior and 9-hole rates are also offered. A restaurant and pro shop with club-making capability are also present.
