Golden Horseshoe Golf Club
401 S England St
Williamsburg, VA 23187-1776, United States

The Gold Course opened in 1963. The work of Robert Trent Jones Sr., who called it his "finest design," this is one of the best examples of traditional golf course architecture in the world.

The Green Course was designed by Rees Jones, Jones Sr.’s son, and opened in 1991, this layout is carved from the same terrain but is simultaneously longer and more forgiving.

Named for Colonial Governor Alexander Spotswood, the Spotswood Course is the elder Jones’s 1963 update of the Williamsburg Inn’s original 1947 nine-hole course.

Nicely landscaped. Tough par 3 holes, all down hill over water. Pro shop staff were very friendly.

Outstanding course. I really like the way the Green course is set up to funnel errant balls back into the fairway. Great personnel and facilities.

Played Gold. Beautiful couse! Challenging...not much room for error. Steeped in tradition!

This course does not drain as well as expected for a course of this quality. If you go the day after a substantial rain be prepared for a soggy course.

We played the Gold course. One of the prettiest courses I have ever played. Lots of water hazards but fairly easily managed. Very interesting elevation changes.
