Stephen F. Austin Golf Club is a long-time favorite, especially for players on the west side of Houston, for its scenic setting along the Brazos River. Don't come out expecting to post a record round based on the length, as the course is set in a pecan tree farm (still harvested every fall) and is very tight. Enjoy the deer and the adjacent SFA State Park campgrounds, but be sure to make camping reservations through the Texas Parks & Wildlife Dept. during the peak camping seasons of March-June and September-October.

Course is in fantastic shape. With the drought in Houston, SFA doesn't show it. Best fairways and greens of any public course in West Houston. Thanks Doug! Saw the usual deer running around. Played in 3.7 hours per my skycaddie. Only thing to make it a better round would have been to score better.

It's a long drive to get to the course, but it is a fun course to play! The staff is very customer friendly, the greens are smiall, but they are the best in and around Houston. You will enjoy the scenery, the course, the friendly staff....and you will go back!

This course is nestled in an old pecan grove that is parallel to the Brazos River. Functionally a great course which from time-to-time will let you see deer and an occastional bald eagle. Under great management, with PGA Pro Bobby Browne, Matt Schroeder and Chris Como Se LLama.
