Sammons Golf Links has been renamed as part of a renovation in 2011, which added 700 yards to the layout. Holes 7 and 8 were merged to create a single long par 5 which might become the signature hole. It allows for the rerouting of holes so that 9 and 18 both return to the clubhouse, making 9-hole rounds easier.

This "old style" course opened in 1934. It is named after John Sammons, former mayor of Temple, who actually undertook the redesign of the course himself during the 1980s.
