Established in 1899, Hancock Golf Course is the oldest golf course in Texas. Located in central Austin, this par-35 9-hole course is a challenging layout with numerous carries up and down hills and over a beautiful creek that meanders through the course. The old course is relatively short by modern standards, featuring small, well-manicured greens that are typical of the era in which it was built.

As the first site of the Austin Country Club, the original course had sand greens and 18 holes. The noted teacher Harvey Penick started his professional career at this location and remained with the Austin Country Club for over 70 years. The course was founded by former Austin mayor Lewis Hancock, Jr., after whom the course was renamed in 1946 when the city took ownership.

The standard walking rates are $21 on weekdays and $24 on weekends and holidays (carts are $13). Junior, college student, senior, 9-hole, and sliding twilight rates are available.
