Designed and built in the early 1950s by Park Commission personnel, this par-70 course is the most popular municipal course in Memphis, built on rolling terrain with tree-lined fairways. The signature hole is #4, a 440-yard par 4 which doglegs around a large oak tree about 100 yards from the green.

Course was in nice shape, greens are in good shape ,but hard as a rock. Staff was very nice. Only issue we had was pace of play.
We skipped holes 8 and 9 to bypass the 7 groups of seniors holding everyone up (took my 2some 1-1/2 hours to play 7 holes). To keep our round under 4 hours. Maybe more marshals to speed the seniors up or keep them from grouping up so much and chatting it up would help.
And like other city courses in the area, the senior crowd will not let the faster groups play thru. This is a big issues and one why I stay away from city courses. If you play here and it isn't busy, you'll enjoy your round.
