Built in 1927, Indian Mountain Golf Course was one of the first courses in the Poconos. Already one of the longest and most difficult nine-hole layouts in the area, the course was made even more challenging a few years ago with the addition of new tee boxes and bunkers.

Despite the length of the course (6,406 yards played twice), it's the short game and a player's ability to get up and down on Indian Mountain's elevated greens that determine a good or bad number on the scorecard.

The 438-yard, par-4 No. 7 is a prime example of the difficulties golfers face. Rated is the top handicap hole, it takes a near perfect drive to set-up a reasonable second shot to the green. Hit it a little thin off the tee and tall trees will block the approach.

Golfers get an early taste of Indian Mountain's prowess at No. 1, a 394-yard par 4. Golfers play from a sloping fairway to a well-bunkered green that yields few one-putts.

For scenic beauty, it's hard to beat the par-3 8th. The 145-yarder is played from an elevated tee box down to a well-protected green framed by mountains in the back.
