In the 1960s, Del Webb began development of Sun City, a senior retirement community. One of the golf courses built was North Course, an executive course. In 1975, Del Webb sold the North Course to the senior residents. The non-profit, mutual benefit corporation is still owned by 250 equity members.

The public walking rates are $20 on weekdays, $25 on weekends and holidays. Sliding twilight, same-day replay, 9-hole, junior, and senior rates are available. Power carts are available for $8 on weekdays, $10 on weekends.
