This classic Donald Ross design is owned and operated by Cleveland Metroparks, and is located 17 miles east of downtown Cleveland. A variety of dogleg holes and water hazards are present here, along with back-to-back par-5s and two canyon holes -- #10 and #18.
The name, according to Metroparks, is believed to be an Native American word meaning "maple forest." The course was private from 1928 until 1961, when it was finally opened for public play.

I finally played this course for the first time in August this year. I had heard so many times about it, my expectations were high. I was disappointed in the condition of the course, but admit the layout is fantastic. It seems that it is overplayed and under-maintained. I am not in a hurry to go again.

Well maintained classic older course. Have to think your way around this course and set yourself up in the right places. Pace can be slow but overall Metroparks has done an excellent job bringing this course to its potential. A fun challenge and good experience.

Pace of play was horrible, over 3 hours just to play the front nine. Greens looked like they had not been cut in a few days, and the holes were not fresh either, as the edges were grown over and beat up. Staff was friendly, rest of course was in decent condition, but alot of unfilled and not replaced divots in the fairways. Had a drive end up in a divot 4x during this 18 hole round!! For the price, I can think of better courses to play...
