The Willard Byrd Golf Course is memorable for both beauty and exacting play. Built around several man-made lakes, each ranging from 14-20 acres, every hole of this par-72 signature course requires a distinctly difference approach. Strategically placed tee shots are essential for successful play on Byrd's undulating greens.

The Rees Jones Golf Course has become a perennial favorite of visitors and locals alike. Players of all skill levels will enjoy an extraordinary golf experience on this straightforward golf course with wide fairways and large mounds surrounded by water coming into play on 11 holes.

Twisted ancient oaks and tall Carolina pines define each hole on the Dan Maples Course. This one-of-a-kind course has newly renovated A1/A4 blended Bent grass greens and boasts five holes that wind along the scenic Calabash Creek, home to nesting ospreys and other native wildlife.

5/13/16 Jones course in terrible shape They lost most of their greens during a cold spell in March and nothing is growing back. Some tees also gone. Of course the speed of play was great since there was noone else on the course.

The course was so tough that we played it again. Definitely a must play course.

Played Byrd and Jones courses... maintenance was really good on Jones but not very good on Byrd, especially the bunkers and the cart paths. Nice layouts, though... really fun place to play. Greens were very slow on both courses. If I return, I'd probably skip the Byrd course in its current condition.

The Jones course had sand in traps, the Byrd course the traps needed sand.

Greens were soft and slow; players ahead not in the habit of fixing ball marks. Overall, not a bad course. Good scenery.

I played the Dan Maples course. Overall, I would rate is just "okay". The course overall was in fine shape, but no better than a decent municipal course. There were a couple of greens that were in bad shape. You just expect a little better when you're near Myrtle Beach. The course is very convenient, however, if you're staying on Sunset Beach or Ocean Isle, and that's why I played it more than once during my vacation week there.

nice course a little long but good for the value

Good course. Housing but set well out of play. Good shape for winter golf. Great value.

Maples course - for winter conditons it was pretty good. Greens rolled nicely and were medium fast. Overseeded fairways were well covered and in pretty good shape. I love the simplicity and fairness of this layout. A stess free but, fair test of your game.

Maintenance is lacking. Drought is taking its toll. Greens too slow. Grass in fairways needs cutting. Very disappointed after my 4 hour drive from Greensboro, NC
