Rock Barn offers two high-end courses located in a residential development in the Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton area.
JONES COURSE: Named for its architect, Robert Trent Jones, Jr., this course opened in 2002 and hosts the Greater Hickory Classic on the Champions Tour.
JACKSON COURSE: Named after architect Tom Jackson, this shorter layout plays to about 6,500 yards and, while ball-positioning is important, it is more accommodating of the higher-handicap player.

We played the Championship Jones course where the Seniors play the Greater Hickory Open. Course is magnificent...but difficult. Bunkers are strategically placed in both the fairways and near the green that you better have your A game going if you want to score. Scenery is amazing....especially the 100 ft waterfall near one of the greens. This is a course you have to play 2-3 times before you understand where to hit the ball and NOT hit it. Greens were immaculate. Friendly staff...pace of play was very good. We got a deal on-line to play this for only $38. It's a quality course that could easily get $125+ per round. Rough was somewhat punitive. Hard to advance it very fair if you were in it.

Very nice layout, user friendly. Staff were friendly but carts did not have score cards, and no one told about the pin placement for the day which would have saved me a couple strokes. Since it was only April, the greens were very slow. $65 for April is a bit steep, not a great value. Would play there again.

Played in January. Course was in great shape considering the time of year. Greens were smooth and fast. Looking forward to going back again.

Played the Jackson course in mid November. Course was in great shape, staff friendly and other groups let me play through (I was a single). Course had a very attractive layout. Would love to return and try the Jones course next time.
