Oyster Bay Golf Links
614 Lake Shore Dr
Sunset Beach, NC 28468-4510, United States

Voted the 1983 Golf Digest "Resort Course of the Year," and ranked by the same publication among the top 50 public courses in the country in 1990, Oyster Bay Golf Links is a rare, harmonious blend of the penal, heroic and strategic philosophies of golf course architecture. Architect Dan Maples and developer Larry Young created a course where variety and innovation are the name of the game. Consider severe marsh-oriented holes, two island green par threes, strategic (and stunningly beautiful) fresh water lakes, long holes, short holes...the consummate combination of shot making requirements.

The par-70 course plays to just under 6,700 yards, but cavernous bunkers, wickedly undulating greens and lengthy par 4's make Oyster Bay a test of one's mettle.

We were very pleasantly surprised by this old course. We’d heard it had gone downhill, but my Dad had great memories of a beautiful course from previous trips 20 years ago. We were not disappointed. Many great views and holes, and the course was in great shape. It’s definitely worth a revisit if you haven’t been in a while.

End of March and greens were in great shape.
Fast round, just under 4 hours with 3 players

I'd give pace of play zero stars if it allowed me to. Buyer beware, the Legends courses DO NOT care about pace on their courses. We suffered through a 5 hour and 35 minute round, no marshals seen on the course.

Course was a good set-up, but when you have to stand and wait for every shot, makes it very unenjoyable.

First course to play in Golf.com World Amatuer Handicap Championship. Coursae was in good shape and greens were in good condition. Course was challenging. Greens were in good shape and ran well. Had 37 puts but not the fault of the course.
