Gowanie began as a nine hole course in 1910 named Riverview Golf Club by founder Thomas Shoemaker. Scottish-born Dave Millar became the club professional in the 1920s and renamed the club Gowanie (pron. "GOW-nee") which roughly translates into "field of daisies."
While this is a private club; they do occassionally host outside corporate and charity events with prior arrangement.
