News flash: Riviera's 10th is a hard hole
By Torleif Sorenson on 2/20/15

Scott Piercy reached the 10th green at Riviera Country Club on Thursday during the PGA Tour's Los Angeles Nissan Northern Tool & Equipment Northern Trust Open. Actually, Piercy found the bunker with his driver from off the tee, but under normal circumstances, a bunker shot and a good putt would get him a badly-needed birdie.

But not on Thursday.

Piercy's 6 at the par-4 10th hole was, unfortunately, not his only double of the day; he also made a mess at the par-4 8th hole, along with bogeys at 11, 12, 14, 15, and 16. His Thursday 80 leaves him tied for 141st place and in danger of missing the 36-hole cut.

Momma said there'd be days like this.
