Day Out for 21 Days
By Torleif Sorenson on 4/17/14
Back in March, Jason Day sustained an injury to his left thumb at the WGC-Cadillac at Doral. And although his thumb was still bothering him at The Masters, Day still made the cut, shooting 75-73-70-42=290 to finish T-20. At the moment, he is ranked 5th in the Official World Golf Ranking.

But on Wednesday, April 16, Day had a protective cast put on his thumb to immobilize it, according to his agent, Bud Martin. Day has withdrawn from this week's PGA Tour stop, the RBC Heritage at Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. Day is expected to return to the tour no earlier than the Players Championship, which begins on May 8.
"The cast is precautionary," said Martin, Day's manager with Wasserman Media Group. "[The thumb] needs to be completely immobilized to allow the inflammation to go down."
At least until then, Day can be home with Ellie and Dash, and spending his evenings watching his friends James Wisniewski, Brandon Dubinsky, and the rest of the Columbus Blue Jackets battling the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Golf needs Jason Day. We hope his recovery is complete and problem-free.
