Snedeker's winning equipment valued at... $34
By Torleif Sorenson on 2/17/15
Brandt Snedeker clearly abides by the old tried-and-true axiom that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." How do we know? Because Golf Channel took a look inside Snedeker's bag to see what he used to win the PGA Tour's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on Sunday:

  • Driver:   TaylorMade Burner SuperFast, 9.5° (Fujikura Motore Speeder 661 Tour Spec X shaft)

  • Fairway metal:  Ping G25, 15° (Aldila Tour Green shaft)

  • Hybrid:  Ping Anser, 17° (Aldila Tour Blue 85H TX shaft)

  • Irons:  Bridgestone J40 Cavity Back, 4-9 irons (Aerotech SteelFiber i95 S shafts)

  • Wedge:  Bridgestone J15, 52° (True Temper GS 95 shaft)

  • Wedge:  Bridgestone J15, 56° (True Temper GS 95 shaft)

  • Wedge:  Titleist Vokey TVD K-Grind, 60° (True Temper Dynamic Gold S400 Tour Issue shaft)

  • Putter:  Odyssey White Hot XG Rossie

In fact, GolfWorld's senior equipment editor, Mike Johnson, used the PGA of America's Value Guide to determine the current trade-in value of the clubs in Snedeker's bag:

Why has Snedeker not put newer equipment in his bag? Ryan Lavner got the answer from Snedeker himself:

"I don’t like changing equipment. I like to keep the variables to a minimum, so I know that it's me that's messing up and not the clubs. It works better that way."
And what about his relatively old driver?

"I'm never going to be able to overpower a golf course, so until I find a driver that goes straighter than the one I'm playing, I'm not going to change."
Bravo, Sneds. Bravo.

Further proof that it's the Indian, not the arrow. The only reason the average golfer thinks his equipment is inferior or out of date is because the big OEMs have convinced him of such erroneous thinking.

In most cases, I would agree, Mustang. But you've tried hitting my circa-1989 Hogan Edge irons... and you were in the simulator with me when I was striping those Mizuno MP-63... :D
