Tiger's Dubai course, version 2.0
By Torleif Sorenson on 12/10/14

Dubai-based DAMAC Properties have unveiled plans for a new golf course as part of their AKOYA Oxygen luxury residential development. And Tiger Woods has been chosen to design the course. In a prepared statement, Woods said what pretty much any architect working in the Middle East would be expected to say:
"I can't wait to see this stunning project come to life. Dubai is fast becoming one of the most influential golfing destinations in the world, both for the professional game and for amateurs looking to enjoy the great weather, great courses and amazing lifestyle.

"We plan to create a distinct and memorable golf course that players of all abilities find enjoyable. I'm looking forward to adding to the great courses of Dubai."
You may remember that Woods was the architect of choice back in 2007 when the Dubailand development project started, but that course was never finished due to a downturn in property values in Dubai. Woods was also supposed to design for the Cliffs at High Carolina development outside Asheville, North Carolina, but that project is also on indefinite hold.

Currently, Woods has two courses under construction — El Cardonale in Mexico, and Bluejack National outside Houston.
