Jimmy Walker: PGA Tour Player, Astrophotographer By Torleif Sorenson on 1/14/14
This past Sunday, Jimmy Walker earned his second PGA Tour victory at the Sony Open in Hawaii. But what most people don't know is that Walker is also a very talented photographer, with a strong taste in astrophotography. In fact, his work has even been used by NASA for their Astronomy Picture of the Day.
John Strege reports that Walker has his telescope, camera, and a computer set up at New Mexico Skies, a remote telescope hosting facility near Mayfield — at an elevation of 7,300 feet. Walker can remotely operate his telescope and take photographs via computer and smart-phone. Of course, Walker is also pretty talented with a traditional digital SLR in his hands, as well, evidenced by the photography posted on Twitter account. His images are copyrighted, so in lieu of reposting them here, we encourage you to check out his astroimaging web site and his SmugMug page. read more H-T: Geoff Shackelford Read an interesting golf article?
