Following a dry spell over the last couple of years, Henrik Stenson has had a very solid 2013 season. After finishing second to Phil Mickelson at the Open Championship in July, Stenson finished third at the PGA Championship at Oak Hill. And on Sunday, Stenson cemented his place on the PGA Tour for the next couple of years by winning the Deutsche Bank Championship at TPC Boston.

Stenson opened this FedEx Cup Playoff event with rounds of 67, 63, and 66. On Sunday, dented only by a bogey at the second hole, Stenson birdied 4, 5, 6, and 8 to tour TPC Boston's opening nine in 33, then finished off his two-shot victory with birds at 11 and a holed bunker shot at 17, punctuated only by a rain delay. Stenson overtook Steve Stricker, Jordan Spieth, Matt Kuchar, Kevin Stadler, and a somewhat resurgent Sergio Garcia to finish at -22, which tied the tournament scoring record.

"I'm just pleased I won here. This was a big goal of mine to win a golf tournament after all those nice finishes. My family is here. I'm going to see my kids in a little bit. It's all good."

The PGA Tour will now take a week off, partly because of the non-stop schedule and in part because the NFL will pretty much obliterate most other sports on TV next weekend. Round Three of the FedEx Cup will be the BMW Championship at Conway Farms Golf Club, just north of Chicago, September 12-15. Golf Channel and NBC Sports will televise that tournament.
