What's Old Is New Again By mustang6560 on 3/25/13
Tiger Woods is back — to the top of golf.
The former world number one won his record eighth Arnold Palmer Invitational Monday to reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the Official World Golf Ranking. Woods never let anyone closer than two shots in the final round at Bay Hill that was delayed one day by storms. With a conservative bogey he could afford on the last hole, he closed with a 2-under 70 for a two-shot win over Justin Rose.Tiger joined Sam Snead as only the second player in history to win a PGA Tour event eight times. The current world number one (feels weird to type) is scheduled to play in the second round of the Tavistock Cup tomorrow, but he'll skip the first leg of the Texas two-step to prepare for The Masters. Despite his strong recent play, he's o-fer in the majors since defeating Rocco Mediate on one leg in the 2008 U.S. Open. He regained the No. 1 spot in the OWGR, the FedExCup Points List, and the PGA Tour Money List, but the majority of golf fans are waiting until he wins his 15th major before admitting he's "officially back". Rory does have a chance to take the No. 1 ranking back with a strong performance at the Houston Shell Open this week. read more Read an interesting golf article? Tip Your Editor!
