It's The Open Championship Week! By mustang6560 on 7/16/12
The Open Championship returns to Royal Lytham & St Annes this week for the 141st edition of golf's oldest major.
It's an exciting day for most golf fans because we're only a few days away from the start of the third major of the year. But, it's been an emotional day for Darren Clarke, the defending champion. As is required of the reigning champion, the Northern Irishman returned the claret jug earlier today to R&A chief executive Peter Dawson and it brought a few tears to his eyes. The British Open, as it's known here in the States, holds a special place in my heart - not just because it's the third major of the year. I spent a year living in London, so the United Kingdom is my favorite country - behind the stars and stripes of course! But, enough about me. I want to know more about you. What is your favorite thing about the Open Championship? Image via Flickr, photojenni Did I miss something? Tip Your Editor [ comments ] My favourite thing about the Open is being able to walk the course with the Pros. I'll be at the Open at Lytham working for the BBC 7/16/12
30,000 people a day held back by a piece of string. You can get within inches of the worlds best players, and appreciate them playing for golf's oldest and most prized major. 7/16/12
