Nick Watney Defeats Tiger Woods By mustang6560 on 2/24/12
Well, the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship is officially over. The tournament had a good run this year. It provided two compelling days of golf between the top 64 players in the world, which was one day more than last year.
Wait. I'm getting a telegram. Really? Hold on. Let me double check. I was just informed that they are going to play the remaining three days of matches at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club. Apparently, the tournament doesn't end the moment Tiger Woods loses. I know, I was shocked too. The stories I read following Tiger's second round loss to Nick Watney seemed to indicate the Accenture Match Play was over for all intents and purposes. Yes. It's true. Tiger, the clutchest of clutch putters, failed to convert a five and a half foot birdie putt on the 18th green to extend his match against Nick and is no longer in Arizona. But there are plenty of other talented golfers left who are worth watching including Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer, Dustin Johnson, Steve Stricker, Matt Kuchar, Brandt Snedeker, Hunter Mahan and Nick Watney to name a few. The third round kicks off at 11:50 AM CST with Martin Kaymer and Matt Kuchar. Flickr, Keith Allison [ comments ] no comments posted yet. [ post comment ]
