Tiger Woods Saves Steve Williams
By mustang6560 on 11/8/11
Tiger Woods put the latest Steve Williams controversy to bed (hopefully for good).
“We talked this morning, we met face to face and talked about it, talked it through,” Woods said. “He did apologize. It was hurtful, certainly, but life goes forward.”
He also potentially saved Steve's career reputation by reassuring the world that the Kiwi is not a racist.
“No, Stevie’s certainly not a racist, there’s no doubt about that,” Woods said. “I think it was a comment that shouldn’t have been made and was certainly one that he wished he didn’t make.”
I applaud Tiger for standing up for his former looper. He easily could have stepped to the side and watched Steve's career fall to the waste side and never looked back. Instead, he jumped in and essentially saved Steve from the gauntlet as some people were calling for his head. It's easy to call Tiger a jerk because, well, he has jerk-y tendencies, but the fact he helped an old friend shows he's not all bad.

Tiger and Steve are both in Sydney this week for the Australian Open so it was only a matter of time before the two ran into each other and I'm glad the meeting happened early in the week. Otherwise, we'd have to read more columns from golf pundits who only want to fuel the controversy.

I don't understand why that picture is with this article? Wouldn't a picture of Tiger and Steve or maybe just Steve or maybe just Tiger have made more sense? What does Feherty have to do with anything?
