Webb Simpson Wins Deutsche Bank Championship
By mustang6560 on 9/6/11
It appears Webb Simpson has figured out how to win on the PGA Tour.

After two disappointing second place finishes early in the season at the Transitions Championship and the Zurich Classic, the North Carolina native captured his second victory yesterday at the Deutsche Bank Championship – the second round of the FedExCup Playoffs.

The only mistake he made was to think winning the second victory would be easier than the first.
"I told somebody early this week that I feel like next time I was in contention, it'll be a lot easier than Greensboro," Simpson said. "And it wasn't that way at all. It was just as hard. The shots and the putts were just as hard. I think it helped calm me down a little, but it was like I had never won a golf tournament before."
The win is his second in just three weeks and it was anything but easy. Webb drained a 30-foot birdie putt on the par five 72nd hole to force a playoff against Chez Reavie. In the playoff, Webb had to hit another big birdie putt on hole 18 after Chez chipped up to tap-in range for his birdie. On hole 17, the second playoff hole, Webb put Chez away after he made an 8-foot birdie putt to cap off his three hole birdie streak.

With the win, Webb moved up to number one in the FedExCup Standing and earned his first trip to Atlanta for the finale at the Tour Championship. Before this year, his best finish in the FedExCup was 62nd.
