"The Tee Amigos" By mustang6560 on 7/28/11
Two U.S. Open trophies and one claret jug later, the trio from Northern Ireland now have an official nickname - The Tee Amigos.
Get it, like three amigos? Oh, those Northern Irish media guys. What a hoot! The Tee Amigos, Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy and Darren Clarke, are in Killarney this week for the Irish Open at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club. If Darren can find a way to win, he'll join Nick Faldo and Padraig Harrington as the only golfers to win both the Open Championship and Irish Open in history. * * * In related news, who knew Darren Clarke had critics? The easy-going Northern Irishman has been heavily criticized in his native country for his post championship celebrations. Darren responded to his critics yesterday ahead of the start of the Irish Open. "I drink a little bit too much, smoke a little bit too much and enjoy myself a little bit too much at times," declared Clarke yesterday. "It's the way I relax and I don't intend to change that in any way shape or form."Give the guy a break. Since winning his first major, Darren's been busy defending himself in the media. First, he had to dispel rumors he was broke before he won the Open Championship. Then, he had to defend his celebration. Was anyone arrested during the two-week long party? If not, then leave the man alone. I guess the moral of the story is, winning a major makes critics. Read More photo by DUP Photos [ comments ] no comments posted yet. [ post comment ]
