Sean O'Hair Wins RBC Canadian Open

Sean O'Hair's name is now relevant again in golf.

O'Hair ended a two-year plus win-less drought Sunday by winning the RBC Canadian Open in a one-hole playoff against Kris Blanks. I was personally rooting for Blanks because I saw him play two weeks ago at the Viking Classic, but congratulations to O'Hair for sucking less in the playoff to beat Blanks.

Maybe it's just me, but something about the RBC Canadian Open at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club seemed off and I can't quite put my finger on it. It was probably just typical week after a major letdown.

Regardless, here's what I found slightly odd from last week's RBC Canadian Open.
  • O'Hair won the tournament with a bogey. How often do you see a player win a playoff with a bogey? I guess the answer is when your opponent shoots a double-bogey. What a disappointing finish. Alas, a win is a win.

  • A Canadian almost won his country's Open. It's been over 50 year's since a Canadian won the Canadian Open and Adam Hadwin almost did just that. After post a four-over 39 on the front, Hadwin made a late run carding three birdies in a row on 12, 13 and 14 only to finish two strokes out of the playoff between O'Hair and Blanks.

  • The rough at Shaughnessy Country Club was cut before Sunday's finish. The rough was so "rough" at Shaughnessy that the RBC decided to lower the rough to allow for a better finish. It's not often you see tournament officials give in to player complaints in the middle of a tournament. I guess they are afraid the last few big names in the field might not come back with conditions so tough.

  • Matt Kuchar missed the cut. What the heck, Mattie? You're supposed to be Mr. Weekend. Please don't let this happen again.

  • Anthony Kim was DQ'd for signing an incorrect scorecard. Kim just can't get his act together on the golf course. Maybe the jetlag from flying across the world caught up to him because he missed the cut despite the DQ.

  • John Daly was in contention. How great was that? I think everyone would agree with me that it would be great for golf in John started winning again because he draws crowds of people eager to watch him bomb it.
