- McIlroy's 16-under is the most strokes under-par for 72 holes in U.S. Open history.
- The 54-hole record at 199.
- The 36-hole record at 131.
- McIlroy is the first player in U.S. Open history to reach 13-under-par.
- McIlroy is the first player in U.S. Open history to reach 14-under-par.
- McIlroy is the first player in U.S. Open history to reach 15-under-par.
- McIlroy is the first player in U.S. Open history to reach 16-under-par.
- McIlroy is the first player in U.S. Open history to reach 17-under-par.
- Quickest to reach double digits under par -- 26 holes when he got to 10 under in the second round.
