Jordan Spieth Eyes Byron Nelson Championship, Again
By mustang6560 on 5/26/11
Remember Jordan Spieth? The 16-year-old high school junior who made the HP Byron Nelson Championship interesting last year?

As a high school junior last year, Jordan not only made the cut (he became the sixth youngest player in history to do so), but he also was in contention until the back nine on Sunday. A double bogey on hole 15 ended his improbably run and he finished T16.

Here we are a year later and Jordan is ready to make his second run at the Nelson. The only problem is his high school graduation from Jesuit College Preparatory School is scheduled for Saturday.
"Hopefully, I’m playing in the afternoon on Saturday," Spieth said. "It’s pretty interesting — I don’t think many have had that dilemma before. But it will be fun."
Earlier this month, he won his third consecutive UIL state championship and is set to play golf at the University of Texas next fall. Jordan's run last year was clearly not a fluke. In fact, his caddie and future roommate at UT made the bold prediction that Jordan would post a top 10 finish.

I hope Jordan can make another run at the title to make the tournament more interesting. The field is not weak, but it sure lacks the superstars so having a 17 year old near the top of the leaderboard sure would add some substance to the Nelson.
